When the rights to a number of iconic comic book characters from the 1990s changed hands, the newly-formed Valiant Entertainment commissioned me to produce something to describe and promote its properties to potential business associates.

Valiant had panels of original comic art, logos, and text, and was looking to present these in a booklet that could be printed on demand and pulled apart into component parts as needed. This meant figuring out compositions of text and negative space which would leave the margins blank for convenience in printing. The result was a series a simple layouts that sought to keep the emphasis on the original artwork and subtly highlight key portions of the text.
